Refund Policy

How registration refunds work at The Mahjong Open.

The refund window

You can request a refund from the moment you register through the end of the seventh day of your league.

Refunds are returned to your original payment method, less the payment processing fee charged by our payment provider — 2.9% + 30¢ — which is not returned to us when a refund is issued.

This deadline is the same for everyone in a league, whenever you registered. Registration stays open for two weeks after a league begins, so if you join after the first week, your registration is non-refundable from the start. You'll be told this clearly before you pay.

Your league's exact deadline is shown when you register, and on the refund request form.

After the refund window

Once the first seven days of your league have passed, registrations are non-refundable. Your spot, your tables and your standings are active for the full eight weeks.

If your city doesn't reach its minimum

A league only runs when a city reaches at least 20 registered players. If your city doesn't reach 20, the league won't run and all registrants receive a full refund automatically — you don't need to request it, and no fee is deducted.

If we cancel

If The Mahjong Open cancels a league for any other reason before it begins, you'll receive a full refund with no fee deducted, or the option to roll your registration to the next league.

Why the fee is deducted

When you change your mind, the processing fee on your original payment isn't returned to us, so it comes out of your refund. When we cancel a league, or your city doesn't fill, we cover that cost — you receive the full amount.

How to request a refund

Email themahjongopen@gmail.com with your name and the city and league you registered for.

Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days, and may take a few additional days to appear depending on your bank or card issuer.
