The basics
One league. Eight weeks. Your pace.
The Mahjong Open runs city-by-city on a league schedule. Each league is exactly 8 weeks long. When you register, you’re in for the full league in your city — play anywhere, play anytime.
Every week, paid players in your city can create or join a 4-person table. You pick the day, time, and location. The game happens. The table creator submits the score, and it lands in every player’s portal and the standings immediately. Repeat.
Step by step
How a league actually works
Register for your city's league
Choose your city, fill out your registration, and complete payment. Each league runs 8 weeks of open play.
Get access to the player portal
Once you're paid and confirmed, you'll receive login credentials for the private player portal. This is where your tables and standings live.
Sign up for your weekly table
Each week, browse open tables in your city — or create one. Pick your date, time, and location. You fill seat 1 automatically.
Play your game
Your foursome meets at the chosen spot. Play a full session of American mahjong. The table creator records the result.
Submit the score
After the round, the host enters each player's score. Scores are visible in the portal immediately and update the standings within the league.
Watch your standings update
The leaderboards update live as the league runs — Ace Award for your single best round, Champion Award summing your best round from every week, and Flight Winner for your best 7-of-8-week scoring average. Your city is also competing for the season's Mahjong Open Leader title.
Scoring & standings
How the leaderboard works
After each round, the host submits every player’s score. Results post to the portal immediately and update the standings within the league — no approval delay.
Ace Award tracks your single highest round score of the league — no minimum rounds required. Champion Award sums your single highest round from every week of the league. Flight Winner ranks your best 7-of-8-week combined scoring average (5 rounds minimum to qualify). Cities compete too: each city’s top 3 individual round scores are added together, and the league’s leading city is named The Mahjong Open Leader.
